    (BFE) Das alle zwei Jahre stattfindende International Energy Forum IEF wurde Anfang der 1990er Jahre als informelle Diskussionsplattform zwischen Erdöl produzierenden und konsumierenden Staaten gegründet. Seither hat es sich zum weltweit grössten Energieministertreffen entwickelt. Sekretariat und Organisation des IEF sollen nun auf eine finanziell solide Basis gestellt und Mitgliederbeiträge, Aufgaben, Organe und Aktivitäten in einer Charta festgeschrieben werden. Die Schweiz unterzeichnet diese Charta anlässlich der Ministerkonferenz vom 22. Februar 2011 in Riad, Saudi-Arabien.
