04Un cutremur cu magnitudinea de 6,7, produs in aceasta dimineata in Oceanul Indian, la sud de insula indoneziana Java, a generat o scurta alerta de tsunami, relateaza AFP, citata de Mediafax.
Imediat dupa acest cutremur, a carui magnitudine a fost estimata de institutul american de geofizica (USGS) la 6,7 si de seismologii indonezieni la 7,1, a fost lansata o alerta de tsunami.
Hipocentrul cutremurului a fost localizat la 24 de kilometri adancime, in timp ce epicentrul la 277 de kilometri sud de Tasikmalaya, o localitate din vestul insulei Java, si la 241 de kilometri est-nord/est de insula Christmas, care apartine Australiei, relateaza USGS.
Centrul american de alerta in caz de tsunami in Pacific a declarat ca nu exista riscul unui val distrugator in ocean, dar ca exista "o mica posibilitate (sa se produca) un tsunami local".
Agentia indoneziana de meteorologie si geofizica a situat hipocentrul la o adancime de zece kilometri, iar epicentrul la 293 de kilometri sud-vest de Cilacap, localitate din centrul insulei Java.
Agentia a apreciat ca este posibila producerea unui tsunami si le-a cerut destinatarilor unui SMS de alerta publica sa impiedice oamenii sa se apropie de apa. La scurt timp, alerta a fost ridicata.
