09Viteza vantului si inaltimea valurilor oceanelor au crescut in ultimii 25 de ani, cel mai probabil ca urmare a schimbarilor climatice, se arata intr-un nou studiu publicat in revista Science si citat de Astrobio.net.
Astfel, viteza vanturilor din majoritatea oceanelor lumii a crescut cu cel putin 0,25 la suta, pana la 0,5% pe an, o crestere cumulativa de 5-10 procente in ultimii 20 de ani. Iar valurile au crescut in inaltime, dar ceva mai putin semnificativ.
Autorii studiului, condus de Ian Young, de la Universitatea Nationala Australiana Canberra au avertizat asupra posibilelor legaturi dintre aceste cresteri si schimbarile climatice.
Totusi, aceste variatii ale vanturilor si valurilor au mai fost inregistrate de-a lungul vremii, ceea ce face ca legatura dintre rezultate si schimbarile climatice sa fie pusa sub semnul intrebarii. "Doar o analiza mai indelungata va putea separa aceste posibilitati", au precizat autorii studiului.
