11SUA au căzut pe poziţia a doua în lume, după China, la capacitatea intalată în ferme eoliene, potrivit unui raport al Wind Energy Association citat de Reuters.
China a ajuns la circa 45.000 MW instalaţi în turbine eoliene, după ce anul trecut adăugat 18.900 MW. În SUA s-au adaăugat doar 5.116 MW iar totalul a ajuns la 40.000 MW, de ajuns cât să furnizeze energie pentru 10 milioane de locuinţe.
Energia eoliană a acontat circa un sfert energia livrată din noile capacităţi puse în funcţiune în SUA, după cele pe gaze naturale, care au fost 40%. SUA beneficiază de exploatarea gazelor de şist, ceea ce a scăzut foarte mult preţul acestora, şI în consecinţă al energiei electrice.
Acest lucru a influenţa negativ instalarea de ferme eoliene, din moment ce acestea devin viabile la preţuri mari ale energiei.
