01Strategia Uniunii Europene privind biodiversitatea, ce urmeaza sa fie prezentata saptamana viitoare, va lua in considerare masurarea capitalului natural al Europei si integrarea valorii serviciilor ecosistemice in elaborarea de politici, potrivit site-ului euractiv.ro.
"Este o nevoie de o evaluare economica a beneficiilor si a costurilor de protejare a biodiversitatii, in scopul de a face progrese si de a ne orienta spre o mai buna elaborare a politicilor. Suntem constienti de faptul ca nu putem evalua totul in bani,"a declarat François Wakenhut, seful comisiei privind biodiversitatea din cadrul Comisiei Europene.
Agentia Europeana de Mediu (AEM) privind contabilitatea serviciilor ecosistemice in Europa a aratat ca majoritatea serviciilor de ecosistem nu mai sunt in masura sa furnizeze o calitate optima si cantitatea de servicii de baza, cum ar fi polenizarea culturilor, aer curat si apa, precum si controlul inundatiilor sau eroziunea.
In timp ce platile pentru serviciile ecosistemice (PSE), in UE au fost pana acum, in primul rand, puse la dispozitie de fonduri publice, executivul UE intentioneaza sa dezvolte un sistem de stimulente economice, care sa includa atat platile publice, cat si cele private, in scopul de a le mari potentialul.
